Weekend Inspiration: 2.
I think my favorite part about the weekend is not having to wake up to an annoying alarm clock. It's probably the highlight of Saturday morning for me - however, at this point, my body is on such a schedule that I wake up super early regardless of my alarm or not but at least I get to stay in bed and read which is something I wish I had more time to do lately. I've had a busy weekend so far photographing some events for work but today I decided I needed some relaxing time so I'm going to the movies. You may think that this is probably not a big deal and a very mundane thing to be writing about but I seriously never have time to go to the movies anymore - so it's a big deal for me! The new Rachel McAdams movies looks great so I'm giving myself a couple hours to go see it with a friend. Let's see if I can sit through it all without fidgeting - I'm a born multitasker so it's very difficult for me to sit and just do one thing at a time. So, cheers to - relaxing.

Drew Ginsburg. Haven't heard the name? Let me advise you. Drew Ginsburg is the jewelry layering genius and extremely stylish girl behind the blog ME AND LEX. Ginsburg's INSTAGRAM has become her playground mostly though - a place where she shows off her brilliance at layering jewelry and creating custom pieces for herself. She takes apart new and vintage jewelry and pieces them back together to create incredible necklaces. I am normally very minimal when it comes to layering but Ginsburg just gets it and flaunts it . I'm jealous of her creativity in making some of the most stunning pieces of jewelry I have ever seen. After much persistence from her loyal instagram followers - Ginsburg has come out with six different necklaces for purchase. Crafted with antiqued Swarovski crystals, coins, and even detailed with Indian filigree. These statement necklaces are truly - a work of art.
These are so incredible - I want every piece!
Make sure to check out her website where you can buy them, www..dylanlex.com and her Instagram where you can see how amazing she is at layering and styling her pieces. Ripped shirts, skinny jeans, high and low designer pieces, this girl is insane - and I mean that in the best way possible. She has brought the term cool girl to a whole 'nother level in my book.

Kenzo celebrates the launch of their new bag in the only way they know howβ¦
What does it take for a bag to become not just a bag, but an βit bagβ? How does an accessory transcend from sought after to absolute must have? Is it the colour, the brand, the shape? Whatever it is itβs not something that a designer can ever really anticipate or guarantee success. But if there was a brand who had it in them to create this seasonβs new βit bagβ weβd put our money on Kenzoβs Kalifornia.
The Parisian label, run by Creative Directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have brought the brand from almost-obscurity to one of the most coveted labels in the industry in a matter of years.
From the brandβs inception back in 1970 by Japanese founder Kenzo Takada, it had always been directional. Takada would piece together garments using scraps of material that he would buy from Parisian flea markets when short of cash which swiftly lent the brand its iconic aesthetic. But in 1999 Takada retired from his eponymous label and the brand drifted into obscurity until the appointment of Lim and Leon two years ago. Known in fashion circles as the uber-cool duo behind the merchandising of Opening Ceremony, their appointment was met to mixed reviews as they were known primarily as retailers rather than designers.
But it seems the move has paid off for the brand as despite their relatively short tenure at Kenzo Leon and Lim have turned it around in spectacular form, creating iconic prints and eye catching logos that have dominated street style photos from across the globe.
The launch of their new βKaliforniaβ bag was the biggest launch from the brand to date and fittingly took place in an indoor skate park in downtown L.A. They threw a party that combined Kenzoβs Parisian heritage with Californiaβs cool vibe; serving guests Parisian cuisine using make shift dinner tables out of skate ramps. The party was hosted by a bevy of super cool California natives including Rashida Jones, Carrie Brownstein and China Chow who all rocked up in an array of stunning new season Kenzo clothes.
So whatβs with the pre-occupation with the Sunshine State? Lim explained βHumberto and I grew up in L.A, so we really wanted to salute that fact, we wanted to pay tribute to our youth and also wanted to find a place where people still skated today. Of Course since weβre launching a bag, we wanted girl skaters. Itβs all about celebrating women and celebrating our roots.β
And these girl skaters werenβt just any girls but four of the best female skaters in the world including Nora Vasconcellos, Eliana Sosco, Lizzie Armanto and Vanessa Torres clad in items from the most recent Kenzo collection.
The special thing about the Kalifornia is that it has been, quite literally, road tested by Leon and Lim who took two prototypes with them on a two week trip from San Francisco to Palm Springs. They used the trip as a means of testing the bags functionality so that it would be as practical as it is sleekly stylish. Itβs the perfect size to cart round a iPad and has perfect phone size compartments at the front and even change pockets at the back (specifically for your parking metre coins). The bag is even specifically tapered towards the top so that it wonβt topple and spill all of your worldly possessions when thrown on the floor.
Itβs this attention to detail that really will really set the Kalifornia apart and Leon and Lim really understand the importance of a strong accessories collection for a brand. Sarah Davis, of the luxury handbag reseller Fashionophile, states; βthereβs something about a bag that really spreads the word for a brandβ she explains βCeline for example was a sleepy fashion label before itβs accessories helped lift consumer interest in all of its products.β Davis pointed out that at some points Celineβs shopper bags would often re-sell at higher prices than if bought as new.
We can imagine that the Kalifornia is going to be pretty quick to sell out too with an already impressive celebrity fan base including the likes of Jessica Alba. The design is instantly recognizable as Kenzo; the soft leather is inspired by leather biker jackets and come in appropriately named βbiker blackβ and βracer redβ.
And the name? Leon explains βbecause itβs Kenzo, (the bag) has its own Parisian aesthetic, but it also has an ease to it (thatβs very Californian)β. Itβs the perfect combination of Parisian street chic meets laid back West Coast cool.
The Kalifornia is officially out now and can be bought online and in a number of high end stores including Opening Ceremony in West Hollywood and retails at around Β£660, we canβt wait to get our hands on one!
Which colour would you choose? What do you think of the Kaliforniaβs design? What do you think it takes to make an βit bagβ?

My love for a black mask...
I have been searching high and low for a suitable face mask. Like I've stated before - I live in Colorado - where it's always crazy dry and most likely snowing so my face needs major help, always. You think it would be easy, just walk into the wonderful world of Willy Wonka, I mean Sephora and there you find the golden ticket to a better face but, nay. That has not been the adventure for me. I have tried many products and settled for the past year on the simple Biore strips you can find at Target. They worked - every once in a while - but they weren't doing it for me. I knew I had to find something else.
So finally, I humbled myself to the nice ladies at Sephora and basically begged them to help me find a mask and they led me to their Boscia Luminizing Black Mask. At first I was a little intimidated by the sound of it especially when I realized that yes, it was actually a BLACK MASK you put on. I was terrified it would be too harsh on my skin - which is very much on the sensitive side bee tee dubs (by the way for those of you less acronym-y) . I got over my fear rather quickly and decided to do this mask on a Friday night just in case something went awry, I had the whole weekend to recuperate - physically and emotionally most likely.
There I was, in my bathroom at nine o'clock at night, like any normal twenty something would be on a Friday, slathering on this so called miracle mask. I was advised to make a good layer around my face and make sure that you couldn't see any of my skin underneath where I was applying it. I waited around for half an hour like the box said - watched an episode of Homeland - and proceeded to peel it off once the half hour was up.
HOLY LUMINIZING BLACK MASK - my face was luminized! I was actually amazed at how instantly I could see a difference. My skin looked smooth and refreshed, it was a straight miracle. The next morning, it looked even better which I didn't think could be possible. Fair warning, be careful around the hairline and baby hairs on your face, I got it a little too close and it felt like a terrible waxing so go slowly when peeling and gently . Whatever is left, use a damp face towel to gentle remove, it's much better on your skin than trying to pick at it to remove it.
I am very much in love with this product and have used it for two weeks now, twice a week. I feel like my skin has progressively improved since the first use and I am now a dedicated user. I'm curious to try Boscia's other products but for now, the black mask has me hooked and I'm super thrilled to have found this product. God bless you Sephora lady!
It's sold exclusively at Sephora so you can find it at their stores or HERE ONLINE.
Has anyone else tried this awesome mask? What did you think?
