I just love a good pony tail. Being able to push all your hair away from your face, especially on those hotter summer days. In the Spring/Summer issue of The Gentlewoman I was thrilled to see this beautiful story on Pony Tails. A little retro with a modern twist. Thankfully, you need very few products to achieve these chic looks.
I like to start with a good 'froth' or mousse. It helps your hair hold the style without weighing it down. For the first Pony look, curl your hair from the middle of your hair, down (about 2 inches at a time) and then brush through lightly for a more vintage type curl at the ends. I like to curl in one direction, away from my face. For the high pony part - flip head upside down and gather hair at the crown to get the height you would like. Wrap around with a tie and shimmy the pony a little atop your head so the grasp isn't so tight and you get a little volume. Finish the 'tail' with some shine serum for a very polished look.
For the second Pony look, again, begin with the mousse. I like to put the product straight on my brush and brush it through my damp hair so that the product is distributed evenly throughout. Blow dry. Gather hair at the nape of the neck for a low ponytail and fasten with a black hair tie. Between the hair tie and nape of neck create an opening large enough to get the ponytail looped through. Loop through once or twice depending on how tight you would like the pony to be, pull tight but not too aggressively so the twist doesn't lose it's form. Use a little serum to polish up the ends and bring down fly-aways. Et, voila!
