PERSONAL NOTE: 3.28.25

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to update my blog! We made our huge move to DC. I blinked, and now we’ve been here for 8 months? Feels surreal. DC finally feels like home. We have our routine and our church, and we’ve rekindled old friendships and made new ones - I finally feel settled.

If you didn’t know, I freelance managing social media accounts as well as creating content for brands. It’s fun and creative, but lately, I’ve felt the pull to go back to my original platform - this blog! I knew I would come back to it eventually, but I wanted to do a website redesign before I started posting again. So, here we are.

Welcome to my redesigned website! The design is simple yet streamlined, exactly how I wanted it. Maybe one day I’ll make it more technical and look like a ‘real’ website but this feels good for now. I spent so many hours editing (thanks to my myspace HTML days), so I’m thrilled to finally share it.

Let’s get into what I’ve been up to lately…

farmers market haul, farmers market flowers, fresh strawberries

FARMERS’ MARKET GOODIES

We try and go to the Farmers’ Market every weekend somewhere in the city (there are so many!). I usually can’t leave without fruit or veggies and now that it’s finally spring, I know we’ll be getting the best produce. I’m so excited!

‘ALL YOU NEED IS A LIGHT JACKET!'

Okay, we are so close to April and the days are warming up but I’ve still been wearing a light coat when we go out. I’ve had this COS coat for literally 8 years, it’s one of my favorites. Of course, I’m always in some sort of denim, and I’m still pretty obsessed with my sambas.

COFFEE PLEASE

Although I love making coffee at home, I’ve been treating myself to a latte or two occasionally. I’ve decided that life is short and sometimes, that $8 latte can do wonders for your soul.

NEW COUCH

We found this beautiful Pottery Barn Couch on Facebook marketplace after months of searching. I knew I wanted something bigger than what we currently had but more comfortable while still in a traditional style, and this couch was basically brand new! I’m still 50/50 on the color. Some days, I love it; some days, I wish we would have held out for a blue couch, which was my dream, but I’ve thought about getting a cover to drape over in blue, and then if I want to switch it up, I can go back to green. Still on the fence, but as always, I know I’m not done decorating. It’s always a work in progress! Okay, next thoughts…we will be switching out the rug because although this Nordic Knots one was stunning and expensive - it has not held up well at all. Disappointing to say the least - I have buyer’s remorse. Do I stay with a cream color or go dark? Maybe patterned? I’m still on the fence but want to figure it out soon. I’m itching to make this space feel more put together than it is now. Also in the market for pillows which is another battle of going light, or dark, patterned, or both?

So here we are, another blog post that I’m hoping to promise I’ll post again very soon. I’m committing to myself and to all those who have stuck around for so long! xx
