Interior Inspiration: Handelsmann + Khan 12BF

I recently discovered the work of Felix Forest and absolutely love what he does in both his Interior and Personal work.

Having spent the last seven years traversing between his former home of Paris and his new home of Sydney, Forest's european sensibility combined with his curiousity for natural beauty and the human imprint, have provided the cornerstone for his commercial and personal work, both of which have since built him a strong international presence.

This home in particular is what really drew me to his work. The play of white walls and deep colored wood beams that bring a warmth into the space to make it feel very inviting and home-y. I'm also a huge sucker for a cascading marble counter top in a kitchen - what a dream!

WE STUMBLED ACROSS AN ENCHANTING 18TH CENTURY BUILDING, IN ONE OF THE MOST ROMANTIC LISBON SQUARES, LOCATED IN THE OLD CULTURAL QUARTER OF THE CITY. SANTA CLARA 1728 IS SURROUNDED BY MONUMENTS, BEAUTIFUL PALACES AND A PARK WITH STUNNING VIEWS OF THE RIVER.
Charmed by the beauty of the place we soon discovered that we had found our new family home...

The renovation carried out under the guidance of our good friend Manuel Aires Mateus, not only respected the original heritage, but it also added serenity and comfort through the purity which defines his architecture. The outcome was a peaceful home where guests are welcomed as long time friends.

I would do anything to stay in this home. The interior design and decor are absolutely stunning. Minimal yet warm and inviting. I imagine the stay here is really special. One day!

At Home With: Designer RaphaΓ«l Van Gend

Touring the beautiful home of Belgian-born Designer, RaphaΓ«l Van Gend.

β€œDespite an intense attention to detail, the 1920s house is uncluttered to the point of emptiness. β€˜β€˜To me, an absence of things is peaceful,’’ Van Gend says. With a deft sense of composition, he arranged almost cinematic vignettes with a scarce amount of furniture chosen from a variety of periods: geometric brass sconces by the postwar Belgian designer Jules Wabbes, a square, patinated steel chair by the contemporary designer Franck Robichez and a creamy, undulating sofa by Pierre Paulin, originally manufactured in the late ’60s. When he couldn’t find an armchair to complement the sofa, he designed a swiveling leather captain’s chair upholstered in Kvadrat fabric. He also re-envisioned the room’s intricate floor, polishing the interlocking grid of tiles custom-cut from solid chips of oak into a pale finish.”

A beautiful space that's absolutely pristine. For how minimal and white everything is, I somehow find this space to feel very inviting. I could compare it to a Gallery space that reels you into the details of a piece of work. I want to study that sofa, walk around it, take it all in. Although, I would find it too terrifying to actually take a seat as if it were an art piece. However, Gend's studio is another story. I want to touch everything in there. Study the pencil and notebooks he has layed out on his desk to maybe get a bit of a glimpse into his creative mindset. It's truly an inspirational space.

INTERIOR: 75007 Paris, Rue du Bac

I am fascinated by interior restoration and remodeling. When I stumbled upon A+B Kasha website, I spent almost an entire day looking through their work. Based in Paris, A+B Kasha is a real estate and design firm working solely on restoring and selling luxury apartments and flats. Here is a small peek into one of their projects...

Located on the 3rd floor of a historic 17th century private mansion, this elegant two-bedroom apartment boasts splendid views, and a courtyard garden.

Really beautiful work by A+ B Kasha

I could spend hours on their site just browsing through all their incredible work throughout the city of Paris. I love how they show the process and details of not only restoring the aesthetic of the interiors but the hardware and everything behind the walls. I can't imagine how intense this process may be since they are working with old buildings that need to be updated. It's seriously so fascinating to me!

Check out more from this pied-a-terre here, as well as more of their work on interiors here. Let me know if you decide to purchase one of these beauties, I would be happy to join in the investment! One can never go wrong with living in Paris.

Martin Margiela's All-White Maison

"It is the stuff of fashion legends..." - A white mansion I could only dream of visiting. This ideal space is home to none other than the fashion house of Margiela. With a unique history as interesting as the design house itself, the mansion has a wonderful story of it's journey through restoration and becoming a home to the Margiela team. Don't let me spoil all it's secrets though...
