STYLE: Easy Summer Vibes

Two dilemmas….Covid and pregnancy. But that’s not stopping me from manifesting the perfect easy Summer look! Although I’m not going out much because of Covid, I still like to dress up to feel slightly ‘normal’ and get my day going. Changing out of sweat pants has helped me start my day and it doesn’t hurt to look cute to walk to the mail box. I also haven’t popped out this baby yet so high-waisted shorts are a no-go for me at the moment but that doesn’t mean i’m not going to try and squeeze into them the second my little lady is born. Not sure if it’s because I’m short or because I like sitting down and not worrying about my bum showing, but high waisted pants/jeans have been a favorite of mine for a while and I don’t see myself getting rid of them any time soon.

I find them to be so flattering and I can dress them up or down, especially here in Hawaii where wearing closed-toe shoes is dressing up!

Not sure when we’ll be able to go out and about again since Covid seems to be ramping up in numbers again sadly but hoping for the best and if nothing else, I’ll wear this look to pick up almond milk. Shoot! I should have photoshopped in a mask……regardless, WEAR A MASK! Please and thank you!

EDITORIAL: Pernille Teisbaek x Farfetch

I’m a huge fan of stylist and OG blogger, Pernille Teisbaek.

Her style is effortless, minimal, and cool mom I want to hang out with! I’ve been following her for years now and she truly has my dream closet. She has a great way of looking timeless but with an edgy twist. Pernille wears lots of minimal looks but she can also wear and style color really well too which is something I am not great at. I can find color to be intimidating and I always feel like when I wear colorful things, they tend to get repetitive way faster than a neutral color.

Living on an island though, I do feel like color goes so well here and it just makes me happy! So I’ve been taking style cues from Pernille on how to dress with color.

Well, in the meantime of researching her looks, I came across this recent collaboration she did with Farfetch wearing one of my favorite new designers, Khaite.

I had to share it because selfishly I want to look back at it for style inspo but also it’s just so beautiful done and photographed, I knew you all would appreciate it as much as I do!

FASHION: Khaite Resort 2020

Khaite has quickly become one of the fashion houses I’m always checking in on. Started by Assembled Brands who are the creative geniuses behind the luxury shopping ‘experience’ store, The Line - The Apartment. Although those stores closed last year without much warning to their loyal customers or a reason (yes, I’m a little bitter about it!), Assembled Brands seems to have great success with creative director Catherine Holstein’s brand, Khaite.

You may have heard of Khaite recently when newly single Katie Holmes was pictured wearing a chic cashmere bra and sweater that exposed her right shoulder as she was hailing a cab in New York City. Yes, that iconic picture that broke the internet for a week, or so it seemed.

After the Katie Holmes images, I noticed more and more people outside of the typical Fashion crowd were talking about Khaite and I loved it! I think because we’ve had a hole missing with Phoebe Philo’s exit from Céline and although Philo’s genius was truly other worldly - we need new brands to fill that void and one of those for me is Khaite! So I wanted to share Khaite’s latest collection, Resort 2020.

I could switch out almost my whole wardrobe just for this collection. It’s just the right amount of feminine/masculine mix while keeping things in beautiful neutrals. Holstein is incredible at designing with textures and volume which I love her for. I own a pair of Khaite jeans which are so perfect - I wear them all the time. FYI if you’re a size 26 please pick up this pair that’s currently on sale, trust me, you won’t regret them! Would love to own more of her pieces and I’m consciously trying to shop better and invest in quality items and Khaite pieces are always on my list.

What I Wore • 11.21.18

I’ve currently been living in my new EVERLANE ReNew Fleece. It’s super cozy, has a great fit, and I love the Oatmeal/Tan color. It’s a little cropped but the arm length is perfect (I ordered a Small!) I also can’t stop wearing my new necklace from MEJURI’s Tarot Collection. I received the Moon sign which means ‘The Daydreamer - instinctive, creative, and imaginative.’ I’ve received a ton of compliments on it so I’d say it’s worth it. :)

STYLE: A Case for the Bike Shorts

Don't roll your eyes just yet! I know, I know...the dreaded bike short trend. I get your initial reaction, it's a bit of a confused stare into your screen, right? I completely understand. However, I want to show you just how cool this look can be when worn in a none work-out way or with a tiny crop top. 

Here we have Fashion Editor Christine Centenera wearing them with a chic oversized blazer and a pair of amazing Céline shoes. The bike shorts aren't short, hitting right above the knee but the key here is how long this blazer is. Almost like a dress covering all the areas you'd like to have covered for a more formal/cool look. The heels are the perfect touch as well - keeping it modern and streamlined. 

Here we have Kendall Jenner with her mile long legs wearing bike shorts in a casual/airport chic way. I love the large oversized black hoodie and knee high cowboy boots. I think it's such a good look and again, covering up the bum with the long hoodie so that it doesn't feel like a work-out look. So far, I think going with all black pieces seems to work best. 

Another amazing look from Fashion Editor Christine Centenera. She clearly knows how to wear bike shorts correctly. This time doing an oversized blazer with a belted waist to give definition to the body. I love the chunky sandals and that the look is mostly black with a tad bit of color. It's cool.

If you're not sold on the look yet...

remember Princess Diana herself wore this trend years ago and looked incredible. Oversized Harvard hoodie and sneakers, it's ICONIC. I'm here for it.  

Any thoughts on the Bike Short trend? Are you less confused now or more? At least if you want to try the looks out bike shorts can be found at super affordable prices. I don't love spending a ton of money on trends so if I can try a trend without breaking the bank - why not!?
